I'm off to India in less than and hour but I have a bit of time to kill so....lucky you.
I had a nice birthday. I was low key to say the least. No window breaking, pants splitting action like last year. Yeah, last year was out of control. I barely "celebrated" my birthday this year but was very happy. I did not have to teach so I made an appearance at work and then went home to talk on the phone for about six hours straight. Seriously, I realized at 4 p.m. that I had not eaten one thing that day. I did not mind though I was contented just being able to talk to my family and friends. It was the last opportunity to speak to them before January. I spent the day alone and ate dinner alone but I was in such a good mood from all my conversations that I did not care. Last year I had a bit of a pity trip.
I can't wait for India. It is not overwhelmingly warm but anything is better than freezing Japan. Tis’ the season to see random things that remind you how special Japan is. For example everyone and their mother are walking around with their white masks on...I don't blame them with riding the public transport in all but in class when students answers are unintelligible because of them I think it is time to take them off. It is so cold in the classrooms that I teach in that I can see my breath. I'm not going to be missing that at all but it will only be colder in January. A common and very comical (and I think a bit sad) sight is the female students who have to carry around mini-blankets to class to keep them warm. I'm talking every Disney character you have ever seen. Let them wear pants!!!! If you can see your breath you should have the option of wearing pants or at least provide adequate heating.
Well it seems that I have exhausted my extra time. I guess I did not have that much. I can't wait to report back on India. Right now I'm just excited the feeling of trepidation have subsided and I'm happy happy happy!!!
I have 170 pepto pills amongst many other remedies to keep me as healthy as possilbe. I plan on taking a pepto every morning. I hope it works..............
